# How do voice-call credits work?

How Loop meters Voice calls against your credit balance, where to check it, and what happens when you run low.

Loop bills every outbound action — including Voice — against one shared credit pool for your account. A voice call is metered by talk time (about 0.17 credit per second), so a typical 5-minute call runs roughly 5 credits. You can see your live balance in **Settings → Billing**.

## What do voice-call credits actually pay for?

Credits are consumed per outbound action across every loop and channel combined — Email, Voice, Instagram, and WhatsApp all draw from the same pool. Voice specifically is billed by talk time rather than a flat per-call fee, so a short call costs less than a long one. Manual overrides you make from **Conversations** don't consume credits — only Loop's own outbound actions do.

## Where do I see my credit balance?

Open **Settings → Billing**. The billing tab shows your current balance against the total for the period, how many credits you've used so far, and when your balance resets or your plan renews. If your balance is at or below your account's warning threshold, the meter is marked **Low balance**.

## What happens when credits run out?

When your balance hits zero, your loops are treated as out of credits. Depending on your account's enforcement setting, you'll see one of two banners across the app:

- **Loops paused** — sending stops until you top up.
- **Out of credits, but still running** — Loop keeps working for now, with a nudge to top up before it does stop.

Either way, a low or empty balance shows up as a banner at the top of the app and on the dashboard, plus the balance callout in **Settings → Billing**, so you always know where things stand before a call would fail to go out.

## How do I add more credits?
